BOND ANNIVERSARY UPDATE

On October 10, we celebrated the anniversary of the approval of the District's Largest Bond Proposal to date.

One year ago, the patrons of the Mid-Del School District came together to support a bold vision for the future of our schools, approving a $492,700,000 bond proposal aimed at making significant improvements district-wide. Since then, we’ve made remarkable strides in transforming that vision into reality. In this newsletter, we’re excited to share updates on the progress of various construction projects, including detailed renderings, as well as improvements to our security measures and recent purchases that enhance our students' learning environments. Thank you for your continued trust and investment in the future of our district!

Construction Meetings are Ongoing

The development of our district's bond projects has been a true team effort, with our leadership team, principals, and teachers playing a critical role in shaping the future of our schools. Over the past year, these dedicated professionals have provided valuable input to ensure that the needs of our students and staff are front and center as we move forward with the construction and renovation plans.

Our teams have been working closely with architects and our construction management company, thoughtfully planning every step of the way. From elementary schools to high schools, these new additions are designed to enhance our students’ educational experience and create safe, modern spaces that foster learning and growth.

We are excited to see these plans take shape and appreciate the ongoing support from our community. Rest assured that the voices of our educators are helping guide each project, ensuring that our schools continue to serve the needs of every student.

Over the summer, new classroom locks were installed as part of our District safety initiative.

This summer, we made significant strides in improving the safety of our schools by upgrading classroom safety locks throughout the district. Thanks to the overwhelming support for the Mid-Del Bond election last October, every classroom across our district has now received these important security enhancements.

The new safety locks are designed to provide an added layer of protection for both students and staff, ensuring that our learning environments remain secure in the event of an emergency. These upgrades are part of our ongoing commitment to prioritize the safety and well-being of everyone in our schools.

Fencing Additions

In our ongoing efforts to enhance campus safety and security, we have recently added fencing at several of our schools across the district. These improvements are part of a broader commitment to ensure our students and staff feel safe and protected while on campus.

The new fencing has been strategically placed to address key areas such as playgrounds and spaces between buildings. By adding these barriers, we are improving campus containment, making it easier to monitor and secure our school grounds. This is just one of the many measures we’ve implemented to strengthen the safety of our campuses.

We understand that safety is a top priority for parents, and we want you to know that every step we take is carefully planned to support a secure learning environment for all students. These additions reflect our commitment to maintaining a safe, welcoming space for everyone in our school community.

PAC Remodel Update

The Performing Arts Centers at Carl Albert High School and Del City High School are currently undergoing exciting transformations, including the installation of new seating and additional enhancements. Once one of these projects is completed, renovations will begin at Midwest City High School, ensuring all of our PACs receive the attention they deserve.

In addition to new seating, improvements are being made to lighting, sound, and more, all designed to elevate the experience for our students, staff, and community members.

As a district, we remain committed to keeping at least one of our Performing Arts Centers fully functional for district use at all times. This ensures that our students can continue to showcase their talents and participate in events throughout the renovation process. We look forward to seeing the positive impact these updates will have on our schools and our community.

Mid-Del Passes Bond Proposition #2 to provide $10 million towards an aquatic center in partnership with the City of Midwest City and the YMCA

Thanks to the support of our community, voters passed a bond proposition contributing $10 million towards the construction of a new aquatic center. This project is in partnership with the City of Midwest City and the YMCA, bringing an exciting new chapter to our district’s athletic programs. We continue to meet with both entities as they share their ideas for moving forward with this exciting project.

The new aquatic center will serve as a HOME for our swim programs at Carl Albert, Del City, and Midwest City High Schools. For the first time, our students will have a state-of-the-art facility right here in Eastern Oklahoma County, where they can practice, compete, and host swim meets without having to travel far.

This facility represents a huge step forward for our district and our student-athletes. We look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have, not only for our swimmers but also for the broader community, as we continue to strengthen partnerships and create opportunities for our students to excel. Thank you again for your continued support and investment in the future of our schools.
